Dutch Croquettes

After almost 4 months without one of our favourite snacks, the Dutch Kroket, we came across them at an Austrian restaurant Una's. Although their shape is a little different, they seemed to be home made and were very nice!

Mardi Gras Fair Day

More than 80,000 people descended on Victoria Park on Sunday 17 February to celebrate Fair Day, part of the Mardi Gras. The weather was good, there was music, performances, food, drinks and various stalls.

The Year of the Rat

CNY2008

Last Thursday, the 7th of February was Chinese New Year. Because of the large Asian population in Sydney, this is heavily celebrated. Today was the CNY parade, featuring 2,500 performers including 600 people and floats from China’s historic Shaanxi Province and local Chinese community groups.

Traditional lion dance which is thought to bring good luck.
There are usually two dancers. One acts as the head and the other the body.
They dance to a drum, cymbals and a gong.
